Suggestions for Mini-Symposia
The number of potential Mini-Symposia is limited, and the Program Committee strives to include a
broad range of topics with the highest quality of speakers as possible. Nonetheless, we welcome
suggestions for specific Mini-Symposium topics from the community.
If you wish to suggest a topic, please send the following information (1-2 pages maximum) to the Chair
of the CSPP Local Organizing Committee (anja.geitmann@umontreal.ca) by February 28th 2010.
1. Who is proposing the Mini-Symposium? Are you proposing to chair the Mini-Symposium or do you have
someone else in mind?
2. Proposed title of the Mini-Symposium.
3. Justification for the request. Provide a short description of the topic and explain why this
particular topic is timely and important.
4. Who are the potential speakers (4 maximum) for the Mini-Symposium? Provide names, affiliations,
and research topics of four potential speakers for the proposed Mini-Symposium
Approval and Confirmation
If you decide to propose a topic for a Mini-Symposium, this is the course of events:
1. You submit the proposal to the Chair of the local organizing committee
2. The ASPB-CSPP Program Committee assesses the proposal
3. If the Program Committee agrees, you receive a pre-approval (usually within one week)
4. You ensure that the proposed speakers submit their abstracts in time for the March 12th
deadline using the ASPB online system
5. The Program Committee will meet at the end of March to make a final decision about the list
of Mini-Symposia. Speakers will be chosen from ALL submitted abstracts.
Please note:
A pre-approval does not guarantee that the Mini-Symposium will actually be organized.
Even if your Mini-Symposium is organized, it is not guaranteed that your proposed speakers will be included.
The abstract submission fee is not reimbursed in either of these cases.
