By-Law 2: Membership
a) Application for full, post doctoral / research associate or corresponding
membership must be sponsored by a full member. Emeritus membership is available
upon application to retired members with at least five years continuous, full
membership in the CSPP. Election will follow automatically after application by
those who fulfil the above conditions. An application for student membership must
be sponsored by a supervising professor.
b) All applications shall be sent to the Treasurer for review by the Executive.
The Executive shall have the authority to accept candidates or not according to the
best interests of the Society.
c) An Emeritus member is one who has retired from active salaried employment as
a plant physiologist and is working no more than half-time in a salaried position.
The annual Notice for Renewal of Membership will indicate that application can be
made for Emeritus membership. Emeritus Membership will not normally be available
to non-members, Corresponding Members or Student Members. Emeritus Membership will
be available to special cases on recommendation by the Executive and following a vote
at the Annual Meeting.
d) Only persons who live outside Canada shall be eligible for corresponding
membership.
e) Eligibility for student membership shall cease at the end of the fiscal year
in which final graduation takes place when eligibility for full membership shall be
automatically established.
f) Corresponding members and student members shall not be eligible to hold office
in the Society.
g) Any member who has resigned may be reinstated on payment of his annual dues.
